Massage Therapy for Cancer Patients

Cancer Therapy
Massage is a therapy that can be very beneficial for those people who are living with or are recovering from cancer.

As a relaxing experience, massage helps put the mind at ease, encouraging lowered anxiety and increasing feelings of well being; these results can assist in creating a personal space that is conducive to healing and wellness.

Light touch is very beneficial for someone who is going through cancer therapies. Chemotherapy, radiation and lymphedema issues can be hard on a person, both physically and emotionally. The physical touch of one person to another has been shown to provide comfort and increased physical health.

Massage can help reduce lymphedema by encouraging the movement of retained fluid (the edema), out of affected areas. Any therapy that helps a cancer patient cope with their condition, providing feelings of security and improved well being, is worthwhile.

How people living with cancer benefit from massage:

  •    Improve your circulation
  •    Enhance your quality of life
  •    Strengthen your immune system
  •    Elimination of toxins from chemotherapy
  •    Feel more in control
  •    Manage the side effects of treatments
  •    Helps to reduce your stress
  •    Can provide feelings of comfort

I have received training specifically for working with people who are living with cancer and with lymphatic drainage.

While I utilize Swedish massage as my primary technique, I integrate deeper or lighter work as necessary when working with my clients who are living with cancer.

My specific education in cancer relief modalities and my many years of professional massage work are expressed in a personal style I have developed, incorporating varying techniques based on the needs and requirements of my clients. As always, the focus of my work is on enabling my clients to achieve the maximum wellness that their body and condition allows.
